In pregnancy many women want to alleviate the stress and discomfort that their bodies feel and that’s why some of them try to practice yoga as it is somehow provide benefits such as relief and comfort. But the expectant mothers should keep in mind that all the yoga poses or postures are not applicable.

The less rigorous yoga techniques are allowed for the
women in pregnancy so that no unwanted complications may occur. Strenuous yoga techniques might only complicate things or jeopardize the pregnancy, thereby putting the mother and child’s lives at harm’s way. So the expectant mothers should be careful about choosing the postures and should take advice from an expert.
There is huge number of yoga postures, but not all of them are suitable during pregnancy. There are several postures of yoga that expectant mother should avoid hence those
complicates the pregnancy. Although it’s impossible to list them all, here is some of them which
women should avoid during pregnancy:
1. Shoulder stand (Sarvanga Asana)
2. Plow Pose ( Hala Asana)
3. Bow Pose ( Dhanura Asana)
4. Head Stand ( Sirsha Asana)
5. Camel Pose ( Ushtra Asana)
There are a lot of yoga postures which are not allowed to be performed by pregnant women because those postures could be harmful. The postures like backbends, headstands, handstands and the upward bow, abdominal muscles stretching, poses performed while lying on the back, and poses which involve balancing one’s body weight on one foot and these techniques are complicated and would only aggravate whatever pain or discomfort the
pregnant women are feeling when practiced. That’s why these are not allowed to
practice by the pregnant women at all.
Pregnant women should be more aware of what the applicable techniques that can be used are and what are not and it will be great if they take help from an expert yoga instructor before trying out the different postures. It will spare the women making the mistakes of doing the techniques
that are not allowed in pregnancy.
